About the event

Good afternoon,

I am truly excited to present an engaging and enriching community class that aims to celebrate the beauty of nature and the power of self-expression through flowers. This class will provide a wonderful opportunity for us to come together and explore the fascinating world of Floriography, the secret language of flowers. I'm thrilled to guide you through a concise overview of what this class encompasses and how it can have a positive impact on our community. Space is limited. Registration is required. Workshop (4 weeks) registration ends November 1, 2023. Single session registration ends 72hrs before scheduled workshop date.

Class Overview: This workshop has been carefully designed to provide a 90 minute experience of pure pleasure, held on a weekly basis during November. Drawing inspiration from Jessica Roux's book "Floriography," and the monthly theme of "Grateful Harvest," we will delve into the captivating world of flower's hidden meanings and the way we feel about them . Every week, I will introduce a new selection of flowers, each with its own symbolic significance, allowing us to uncover the secrets they hold. This journey will be a process of discovery, self-reflection, and creative expression.

Weekly Themes and Activities:

  1. Week 1 - Flowers are beautiful at any angle: We will explore the concept that beauty can be perceived from various perspectives. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own distinct floral arrangements, highlighting the beauty of flowers from different angles.
  2. Week 2 - Express Yourself with a Nosegay: Embracing the idea of self-expression, participants will engage in crafting nosegays using flowers that resonate with their personal stories and emotions.
  3. Week 3 (Varies based on the monthly theme) – November: Thanksgiving Host/Hostess Arrangement: With the spirit of gratitude in mind, we will discuss flowers that symbolize thankfulness. Participants will then create arrangements suitable to display at a Thanksgiving gathering.
  4. Week 4 - Flowers and Unconventional Vases: Celebrating the notion of recycling and that flowers can enhance any space, participants will design arrangements utilizing unconventional vases. This includes cans, mugs, and repurposed jars from Cheffrey's Pickle Pub, showcasing the versatile beauty of nature.

Meaningful Reflections:Throughout the class, we will engage in journaling exercises, offering participants the chance to reflect on various prompts. These prompts will encourage participants to share their favorite fall memories, discuss subjects they are passionate about, and explore their distinct perspectives on beauty.
